KELLY Morgan could become the unified world super-middleweight champion after only six fights.

The 36-year-old, who has won all five of her bouts since turning professional last year, has been in talks with WBC world super-middleweight title-holder Nikki Adler about a potential bout for the famous green and gold belt before the end of the year.

However, Adler’s manager, Julia Schutz, has told WBC Silver middleweight champion Morgan's trainer Richard Farnan that they have been approached to fight for the vacant WBO version of the world crown instead.

“We are getting weekly updates from Julia at the moment and over the weekend, she said that the promoter she has been in talks with about staging the fight wants to have the WBO belt on the line,” Farnan told the Advertiser.

“I said that we would have to check with the WBC first. We have spoken to Malte (Muller-Michaelis, the WBC female chairman) and if the promoter didn’t want to have the WBC belt on the line, then they wouldn’t stand in our way.

“But I have also said: 'let’s have both on the line – make it a unified world title fight'.”

The 2002 Commonwealth Games javelin bronze medallist, who defeated Bulgarian veteran Borislava Goranova earlier this month, returned to training on Monday for her potential world title fight on November 26.

“We are working towards that date in November but it could be in early December. Either date won’t be a problem with us,” said Farnan, who is also Morgan’s manager.

“Kelly was back in camp on Monday and we are, at this moment in time, looking at an eight-week camp for what could potentially be a huge unified world title fight.”
