SWINDON Town youngster Ellis Iandolo is determined to make the most of his opportunity after being handed a sustained run in the team.

Luke Williams has shuffled his pack in Town’s last two League One fixtures due to a lengthy list of absentees, as well as looking to arrest a run of poor form, swapping his preferred 3-5-2 formation for more solid looking 4-2-3-1.

The set-up switch has paid dividends so far, with Williams’ side collecting four points in that time, as well as ending a sequence of four home league defeats in a row courtesy of a big win over Rochdale on Tuesday night.

Iandolo, who turned 19 a fortnight into the current campaign, has been one of the chief beneficiaries of that tactical change and has started the previous two games as one of Town’s advanced midfield three.

The youngster has looked more than comfortable in that role as Swindon attempt to increase their attacking threat, and would rightly feel hard done by if he were to lose his place for tomorrow’s home game against Walsall.

Speaking to BBC Wiltshire earlier this week, Iandolo is relishing his increased involvement within the team and will give his all to make the best impression possible.

“As a young player, you just want to be getting game time. Whether that comes on the right, the left or down the middle, you have just got to take it as it comes. I will play anywhere for the team,” said Iandolo.

“I would say I am an attacking-minded midfield player, so that three that are sat ahead is a position I would like to see myself in.

“I can come out wide or come inside, so it suits me quite well to be running at defenders, so I enjoyed it.”

Iandolo only joined Town last summer on the back of a successful trial but made 13 appearances for the club in his debut campaign and signed a contract extension until the end of the season – with an option for another – at the end of 2015-16.

The former Gillingham youngster has added a further seven run-outs to his name this term and admits he is delighted to have been trusted by the Town management staff so soon.

He added: “In my first season, I probably got more game time than I expected.

“To be more of a regular player in the team would mean a lot to me and to just keep getting as many league games under my belt as I can is what I am aiming for.”
