It IS a great honour to be a part of this weekend’s 30th anniversary celebrations, although I know a limited amount about the history of the Swindon Wildcats since I arrived.

I’ve heard little stories. I know how special it is to be a part of a celebration like this because I have been a part of it at the Cardiff Devils, who have a great, successful history.

I know how much it means to the Devils fans so equally, I know how much it means to the Wildcats fans, which is why it’s exciting to be a part of it.

There are a few generations of players who are involved, which means the older fans get to see players who they saw and young people get to see the familiar faces they know.

But that’s the special part about it. Everyone from three generations and three decades will be on the ice at the same time.

I think people will be learning. There will be stories flying around and for the younger generation, they have a chance to learn about the past 30 years.

The Legends game itself isn’t going to be very rough but it will be interesting to see if the younger players are better than the older ones.

But before that, we have a game against one of my former clubs, Telford Tigers, at the Link Centre.

It’s always weird to play your old team but we have already played them this season so it is back to normal and the Swindon Wildcats are my team now.

Every time you play one of your old clubs, you obviously want to prove them wrong and win the game for your current side, which is what we want to do at the weekend. Especially with us signing Phil Hill now, so that will also add a bit of extra spice to the game at the weekend.

He (Hill) will bring another angle and another dimension to our team because he is a big guy and he is experienced too.

Aaron (Nell) has been trying to build a professional team and that is what Phil is: a professional.

He’s certainly going to add to our line-up. He can do a lot.
