SWINDON Town head coach Luke Williams doesn’t think their transfer window business has finished despite the arrival of four new players this week.

Tuesday saw the return of Ben Gladwin from Queens Park Rangers, before youngsters Charlie Colkett, Fankaty Dabo and Islam Feruz arrived from Chelsea a day later, with all four on loan until the end of the season.

Following the addition of the quartet, Swindon now have a total of five players on loan at the club with Lloyd Jones already being at the County Ground.

However, teams are only permitted to have five loanees in a matchday squad at any one time but Williams doesn’t see that as a problem for his side should anymore temporary signings arrive in January.

Despite the new faces, he also believes the club are still looking to bring in some permanent signings to the squad.

“I’m very confident the club are still looking (for new players) – even loans as well,” said Williams “We’re all aware that only five can be named in the matchday squad but I don’t think there’s a problem bringing in more than that on loan.

“Some weeks, people will be in, some weeks, people will be out.

“There’s always the scenario of injuries and suspensions, which we’d love to avoid, but we know the reality is that you have to prepare yourself for these things, so I think the club are still looking in the market for both permanent signings and loanees.”

Williams admits he is excited to work with the fresh batch of players and that it had given the other players something to think about as they compete for places.

“The players that have been with us all the time see the new faces in and they’re training to say ‘don’t forget about us’,” says Williams.

“There is competition for places here, it’s healthy we had a very lively training session and everyone has given a good account of themselves.

“It’s exciting for us as staff to work with new players.

“It is exciting to work with Ben again having seen the progress he’s made over his career.”
