SWINDON revitalised their promotion hopes in Conference North following a 2-1 success over Firebrands A.

The hosts stayed fourth in the table following their win at the weekend, but they now trail Firebrands, who slipped to third in the table, by one point.

Swindon had to soak up some early pressure from the visitors but a strong defensive display kept them at bay.

Midway through the half, Swindon took the lead against the run of play when Henry Cheney picked up a loose ball inside the Firebrands half and he skipped past his marker before placing the ball under the advancing keeper.

After the break, Swindon, despite controlling the game, found themselves pegged back to level terms when the visitors hit them on the counter and fired the ball home from long range.

However, the hosts secured all three points in the dying stages of the match when Chris Parsons slotted home after a well-worked short corner routine.
