SWINDON Town plan to give centre-half Lloyd Jones every chance of proving his fitness ahead of tomorrow night’s game with Gillingham at the County Ground.

The on-loan Liverpool man, 21, suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 3-1 win over Coventry City and was replaced by Dion Conroy with 16 minutes to go.

Jones underwent a scan this afternoon and Town will wait until Tuesday before making a final decision on whether or not the defender can feature against the Gills.

“We need to wait until tomorrow to give him the best possible chance. He deserves to play and we’ll give him every chance to do that,” said Swindon head coach Luke Williams.

“He’s had a scan and we think that it may be difficult because of the swelling in there, and probably some bleeding, but hopefully with the experience of the people at Swindon and maybe a second opinion as well, we’ll be able to have a good idea of what we think the extent is.”

Should Jones be ruled out, Williams will be able to call upon the services of Raphael Branco, who is available for selection again after serving a two-match suspension, but midfielder Yaser Kasim remains sidelined with a recurrence of an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, striker Jermaine Hylton won’t be considered for selection for a third successive game following his walk-out before Town’s trip to Northampton Town on February 14.

The frontman left Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium before kick-off after finding out he hadn’t made the bench and Williams says that a decision on what disciplinary sanctions Hylton will be handed by his club will be made in the coming days.

The Town chief said: “Jermaine will have a meeting in the next couple of days – probably Wednesday after we’ve dealt with the game – and the situation will be clear then.”
