SWINDON Supermarine missed a chance to boost their promotion prospects in Southern League Division One South & West as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw after coming from behind at fellow play-off hopefuls Evesham United.

Victory would have pulled Dave Webb’s side up to within two points of Evesham in the last of the play-off places but a valiant second-half performance was not enough to complete their comeback.

Marine travelled to Worcestershire looking to make it six wins out of six in March but got off to the worst possible start as a defensive error saw them fall behind in the opening minute of the match as Ryan Morgan’s weak back-pass was pounced upon by Mark Magee.

That was all that separated the sides at the break but Webb sent his troops out fired up after the restart and they restored parity within two minutes as a Connor Thompson cross was converted by Josh Parsons.

The goal galvanised Marine and it was they who looked most likely to grab a winner but in the end, they had to make do with a share of the spoils to remain five points adrift of their rivals down in sixth.
