ROYAL Wootton Bassett head coach Alan Low thinks the lack of a fixture last weekend has given his side the best possible chance to finish the season strongly.

Before their break, Bassett had suffered with numerous injury problems, a list which has now decreased due to the lay-off.

Far from taking momentum away from the team, who won 29-19 against Windsor in their last game, Low believes the hiatus has definitely been a positive given their injury situation.

“We’ve had a week off, which was well-needed, I think. We’ve had a few knocks and bumps so we had the chance to give some of the lads a bit of a rest,” said Low.

“We know what this time of year brings and we didn’t see the break as something which would make us lose momentum.

“It’s an opportunity to get everybody fresh again and raring to go this weekend.”

Following late heartbreak against Maidenhead and Swindon, the Bassett boss wants his side to remain focused for the entirety of Saturday’s home game.

“Banbury have picked up some good results at home but are a bit indifferent when they travel. We are expecting them to be really gunning when they come down here,” added Low.

“We had a tough day at the office when we went up there so we are hoping to atone for that performance because we were disappointed.

“We need to make sure we are focused and stay focused for 80 minutes, plus injury time, however long that will be”

Dave Hogg and Dan Reece are both out with knee and shoulder injuries respectively, while Will Hooper returns.
