WILTSHIRE U25s begin their outdoor campaign tomorrow (2pm) when they head to Chew Stoke to face Somerset U25.

Westlecot have three players chosen, Gary Jackson, Nathan Richards and James Richman while Highworth have two selected in Ben Choules and Sean Etherington.

Garrards’ John Hermon and Royal Wootton Bassett’s Craig Morphet who lifted the family pairs trophy, a national outdoor title last season, at Royal Leamington Spa, with his father Gary, are also included.

KATY and Lucy Smith have been invited to attend the Bowls England ladies Junior International (U25) trial at Royal Leamington Spa on Monday, May 29.

The Royal Wootton Bassett players are both U25 indoor internationals while 20-year-old Katy has also represented England outdoor at U18 level.

Twenty-one-year-old Lucy on the other hand has won the county ladies U25 title five-times in the past six seasons.

ROYAL Wootton Bassett have six players selected to take part in the two Wiltshire Ladies Johns Trophy, inter-county championship, trials organised for Devizes next Wednesday (6pm) and Wroughton on Saturday, May 6 (1.30pm).

They are Patricia Murray, Ginny Nash, Charlotte and Maisie Daniell as well as Lucy and Katy Smith.

They will be joined by Margaret Dowthwaite, Babs Salter and June Corbett from Wroughton, and Joanna Hicks, Linda Young and Maggie Jordan from Highworth, plus the duos of Wendy Anderson and Janet Willis (Stratton Churchway), Chris Mitchell and Alison Fail (Purton), Deanne Davis and Julia Hunt (Wanborough) as well as Laura Laytham ( Town Gardens) and Marilyn Kilburn (Supermarine).

The Johns Trophy squad will then face Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset in their group matches.

NINE Royal Wootton Bassett players have been invited to attend the first Wiltshire Middleton Cup trial.

The trial will be held at Bassett on Saturday May 13 (10am) under the watchful eye of Neil Smith, who has replaced Dave Snell as county men’s team manager.

Barry Sictorness, Chris Cheesley, Dave Godwin, Craig and Gary Morphet (national family pairs champions), Mel Biggs, Steve Snell, Kevin Embling and Kyle Anderson are the Bassett men.

Completing the local line-up are Westlecot sextet of James Richman, Mike Richards, Graham and Craig Hatherall, Jamie and Mike Titcombe Jnr as well as Tom Pittuck from Swindon Town Gardens.

A second trial match, a full blooded inter-county game against Hampshire, is planned for Atherley (Southampton) on April 20.

The squad will face Devon, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire in their group games.
