FAIRFORD Town were unable to get their hands on county silverware as they were beaten in a penalty shoot-out by Cadbury Heath after the final of the Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy finished in a 2-2 draw.

Gareth Davies’ Hellenic League Division One West champions fell behind inside 20 minutes when Cory Simpson headed Cadbury in front and he soon got his second before the half-hour mark.

Levi Cox gave Fairford a lifeline before the break when he halved the deficit before Lee Smith levelled the scores late in the second half.

However, there was to be no fairytale ending for Fairford as the match headed to penalties, with Cadbury clinching the trophy with a 4-2 success in the shoot-out.
