CHISELDON’S Jonny May linked up with the England squad yesterday as they assembled in Teddington ahead of flying out for a two-Test tour of Argentina later this week.

The Gloucester wing had a hand in two of England’s tries as they defeated to the Barbarians 28-14 at Twickenham on Sunday, ahead of jetting to Buenos Aires on Saturday.

May sparked the move that led to fellow wing, Nathan Earle of Saracens, touching down for the opener before also being involved when Nick Isiekwe, also of Saracens, scored England’s third try.

Meanwhile, May has given his backing to a new programme supporting sporting groups and individuals.

The former Royal Wootton Bassett junior is supporting Persimmon Homes’ Healthy Communities scheme, which will see it give away £600,000 to sporting causes across the country over the next 10 months.

Every month this year, each of Persimmon’s 30 regional businesses – including the company headquartered in Malmesbury – will hand out £750 to either an individual or team in the area, to be spent on sports kit, equipment, coaching or facilities.

Next January, a team or individual will be selected to represent each of Persimmon’s 30 businesses in an online public vote to decide the overall winner of the £200,000 top prize, two runners-up winning £50,000 each and the other 27 finalists £5,000 each.
