SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb believes the time is right for TJ Bohane to prove himself in the Southern League after agreeing to rejoin the club for next season.

The 29-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer in the Hellenic League over the last few years and has reunited with Dave Webb after following him to the Webbswood Stadium five years ago.

Bohane’s first spell at Marine didn’t go quite as planned and he returned to Highworth Town to became one of the most lethal finishers in the Hellenic League.

Following the retirement of John Fisher, Bohane joined Bracknell Town last term and netted 44 goals.

“When we first got the job here five years ago we brought TJ with us, he has matured a lot since then,” Webb said.

“We started speaking a couple of weeks ago and he was really keen to join us.

“He is a proven goalscorer and the time is right for him to give this league another go.

“He scored 44 goals with Bracknell last year and he scored a lot for Highworth before that.

“I think we have been missing a player like TJ since Luke Hopper left us (in December 2015).”

Meanwhile, Webb is hopeful that his side will reap the benefits of a testing pre-season schedule.

The Webbswood Stadium side confirmed that they would kick-off their friendlies with their annual game with Swindon Town on July 8.

The Southern League Division One South and West outfit, who also confirmed that 12 of last season’s squad would be returning this term, will face two other League Two sides in Newport County (July 15) and Forest Green Rovers (July 31).

Supermarine will also welcome National South sides Gloucester City (July 11) and Hungerford Town (July 18) to their South Marston home along with Southern League Premier Division team Banbury United (July 29).

Webb’s outfit will also visit Hellenic League sides Royal Wootton Bassett Town (July 22) and Carterton Town (August 5).

“It has taken a bit of time to finalise the Swindon friendly with all the changes that have been happening there but we are delighted to get it sorted,” Webb said.

“We look forward to this game every year and it always brings a good crowd down and hopefully everyone will have an enjoyable day.

“We have got a hard pre-season because I think it will do us good in the long run.

“Playing teams higher up the leagues than us we will allow to improve our fitness on the pitch rather than just on the training ground.”
