AARON Nell is on the hunt for one more signing to complete his roster after Swindon Wildcats finalised their pre-season schedule yesterday.

The Link Centre boss, who added young D-man Joseph Hazeldine on a two-way deal from Nottingham Panthers, on Monday, is keen to add to his forward options before the season starts on Saturday, September 16.

However, the 27-year-old is in no rush as they put together the final preparations for their assault on the National League South One.

“We like where we are at and everyone is ready to go now,” he said.

“We’ve had a good summer recruitment-wise and I do think it was important to bring back as many players as we could from last season and we’ve done that.

“Most of our work is done. We are sitting and waiting. We would like one more forward.

“When that happens we’re not sure, it could happen next week or in three months’ time.

“If the right player becomes available, we will look at it but normally at this time of year, we are set and done.

“We are looking to add one more player but we don’t know when that will be.”

The Wildcats confirmed they would be facing league rivals Bracknell Bees, home and away on Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, before a double-header with Peterborough Phantoms the following weekend.

With just four games, spread over the eight-day period, Nell is hopeful that his side will have the perfect start to their season.

“The last however many years, we have crammed our pre-season into one-and-a-half weeks and you are always tired that first weekend having played six games in 11 days,” he added.

“We have spread it out over two weeks this year and it will be good for us to get those games in.

“I think it is important to have two weekends of pre-season to make sure we are ready for that first weekend.”
