SWINDON Robins will be boosted by the return of influential skipper Jason Doyle when they resume Premiership action at the Abbey Stadium tonight.

The Robins have been without the Aussie for the last two meetings after a crash away at King’s Lynn Stars at the start of the month saw him end up back in hospital.

Fortunately, the damage to the already battered and bruised 31-year-old, who was still sporting crutches ahead of the meeting in Norfolk, was not as bad as first feared and having competed for both his Polish and Swedish clubs last week, he returned to Grand Prix action on Saturday night in Denmark, losing his world championship lead in the process to Maciej Janowski.

Swindon have been without a meeting for 12 days but Rossiter is confident that the break should not impact his side, who are looking to extend their winning streak of 11 on the bounce which has seen them go top of the Premiership standings.

“Jason should be back, I’ve not been told anything different at this stage,” he said.

“I think he was just a bit battered and bruised at King’s Lynn and just needed a little bit of time to regroup.

“A lot of the other riders are still riding so I have got no worries about them not being ready.

“The break doesn’t really matter.

“It’s only been just over a week and I wouldn’t say it’s anything serious and it is what it is.

“It’s going to be tough. These are the sort of meetings that people are expecting us to win and could prove to be a banana skin.

“Our previous form suggests we should be okay but we can’t take anything for granted.”

Meanwhile, Nick Morris has landed himself a ride in Sweden, teaming up with Doyle at Rospiggarna, where he scored paid five, on his first outing on Tuesday night, replacing the injured Max Fricke.

Richard Hall will complete Swindon’s line-up this evening at reserve and Rossiter knows the rest of the team must step up in filling the points left by Zach Wajtknecht.

“It’s very difficult trying to get people on board,” he added.

“Unfortunately, Zach will always be difficult to replace because he was doing so much better and was beating good riders as well.

“There wasn’t anybody in my opinion out there that he could be replaced by.

“Whoever is down at reserve, needs to come up to the mark and we need them to show what they can do.”
