CREWE Alexandra have signed goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen on a one-year following his release from Bolton Wanderers.

His surname may sound familiar to some, as he is the 19 -year-old son of former West Ham United keeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

  • COLCHESTER United have seen one player head out through the exit door after Dion Sembie-Ferris agreed to have his contract terminated by mutual consent.

The winger joined the club from St Neots Town in 2013, going on to make 30 appearances in all competitions.

However, the 21-year-old spent last term on loan at National League South’s Concord Rangers.

The U’s have also been handed a boost as defender Tom Eastman has made a rapid return from an ankle injury he picked up on the opening day of the season.

Having previously played for Cardiff City, Brentford and most recently Crewe Alexandra, the 24-year-old will provide some experience for Adrian Pennock.

The highly-rated 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at Sincil Bank since the arrival of on-loan Reading defender Rob Dickie, but has featured on the bench for City in their first three games of the season so far.

The forward linked up with Eddie Howe in 2015 when he arrived from Banbury United and made a string of appearances for the club’s U21 side.

  • NEWPORT County are set to receive the normal share of gate income from their Carabao Cup tie at Leeds United this month.

The League Two side could have got less after being drawn at home to Leeds, but asked to play away due to pitch refurbishments at Rodney Parade. Since then, the Championship side have agreed to honour sharing 45 per cent of the gate income with the League Two outfit.

The fixture is set for Elland Road on Tuesday, August 22.
