SWINDON Town manager David Flitcroft anticipates more to come from his side as they return to League Two action this weekend.

With four games in the space of 11 days to start his rein at the helm of Swindon, there has been little time for many to catch their breath.

However, after this weekend’s trip to Morecambe, Flitcroft will have a run of three games where he will have the full week of preparation to get his side ready for the upcoming Saturday fixture.

With the hectic start and players like Kaiyne Woolery only having teamed up with squad last week, a four-point haul from their first two games is nothing to be sniffed at - Sheffield United, who romped to the League One title last year, only had one point to their name after four games.

And Flitcroft believes that the more time he spends on the training pitch with his team, the better they will get.

“You’ll find natural connections, that’s what develops,” he said.

“I do believe in getting your work done on the training ground and making your decisions black and white.

“You’re going to have teething problems with what we have done but it’s no excuse.

“We have got some fantastic work we can get back on the training ground with and we’ll look forward to that.

“We’ll get it right and I’m really positive about coming out of this glut of games and getting to work with the players.”

Town have also had their share of injuries to contend with.

Flitcroft was pleased to see Dion Conroy come through 90 minutes on Tuesday night following his dislocated shoulder, but Donal McDermott was forced off against West Ham United U21s with a knee injury and Lawrence Vigouroux missed out completely after undergoing a scan on an Achilles issue.

It is not clear at this stage if the latter two will return at the Globe Arena tomorrow, but Paul Mullin is likely to start having been suitably rested on Tuesday, coming on to score as a second half substitute.

“Mulls didn’t play purely because I want to keep him right and I want to keep him fresh for Morecambe,” added Flitcroft.

“Everybody else got the game minutes I wanted them to get.

“I wanted to give Donal 90 minutes. I thought it could be his ankle again but it wasn’t, it was the back of his knee.

“We’ll use the 24 hours after the game to settle down and then we’ll have a definitive on that.

“It was probably a good game (for Dion to come back into). They’re not as robust as League Two games so it’s a great game for you to get sized up.

“His shoulder dislocated and popped out of its socket so there was a lot of soreness in there and he has come through it really well.”
