MORECAMBE have made a move in the transfer market in the wake of their defeat to Swindon Town at the weekend by signing defender Max Muller on loan.

The 23-year-old makes a temporary switch from League Two rivals Wycombe Wanderers and will stay at the Globe Arena until January.

German Muller has played just once for Wanderers this season, featuring in their defeat at Championship Fulham in the EFL Cup.

Muller said: “I’m happy to get a new opportunity and hope to get some game time.”

OXFORD United striker Kane Hemmings has stepped down a division after leaving the League One club to join Mansfield Town on a season-long loan.

The deal for the 25-year-old could yet extend beyond that, with the Stags having the option to make the move a permanent one at the end of the campaign.

Hemmings scored 15 goals in 54 games for Oxford last season but has yet to feature for the Kassam Stadium outfit during 2017-18.

Mansfield manager Steve Evans said: “We have said since the early part of May that we would like to sign another striker in addition to the four lads we currently have.

“I’m delighted, after three months of hard work, that we’ve been able to land the young man.

“My thanks are extended to Kane’s parent club for the professionalism in which they have dealt with our interest over a period of two to three months.

“This is a young man who I first tried to sign when he was scoring goals in the Scottish Premier League for Dundee and despite several attempts with my long-term friend, the Dundee manager Paul Hartley, a fee could not be agreed.”

YEOVIL Town have bolstered their defensive ranks by signing Millwall’s Sid Nelson on loan until January.

Nelson also spent time in League Two last season during a loan stint at Newport County and has again found himself down the pecking order at the Lions, failing to feature for the Championship side this term.

Yeovil manager Darren Way said: “I’m really pleased the deal has finally been agreed as we’ve been in discussions with Millwall for a number of weeks.

“A big thanks to them and Neil Harris for allowing the move to happen.

“Sid has good leadership skills and is someone who enjoys defending.”

CHESTERFIELD are in need of strengthening their coaching staff following the departure of assistant manager Steve Eyre a little over a fortnight into the new season.

Eyre was appointed as number two to Spireites boss Gary Caldwell in May having first joined the backroom team at the Proact Stadium in February but has now left the club by mutual consent.

Chesterfield director and company secretary Ashley Carson said: “I’d like to thank Steve for the hard work he has put in during his time at the club and wish him all the very best for the future.”
