Swindon Advertiser:

SWINDON started the game at a very high intensity. During the Robins’ period of domination, they had numerous chances, including former Chelsea defender Dion Conroy striking the bar from a corner, created by Chris Hussey.

Luke Norris put a one-on-one chance straight at the Crawley goalkeeper Glenn Morris. In the 36th minute, a Crawley player whipped in a cross which went past Lawrence Vigouroux to Town skipper Olly Lancashire, who accidently headed the ball in to his own net.

Two minutes after Swindon conceded the own goal, striker Kaiyne Woolery had a left-footed shot from the edge of the box which flew just over the top left corner.

Half Time - Swindon Town 0-1 Crawley Town

Swindon returned from the half-time break and shortly after made a double substitution, with Woolery and Amine Linganzi coming off. They were replaced by James Brophy and new signing Matt Taylor.

I personally think that Taylor played too soon after signing from League one outfit Northampton Town earlier this week as he needs to integrate with the squad and David Flitcroft’s playing tactics.

Donal McDermott had a chance to get Swindon back level pegging but he narrowly missed the target.

In the 79th minute, Jordan Roberts’ drilled a left-footed shot which went out of Vigouroux’s reach and in to the bottom right corner.

The Red Devils then put the game to bed with a third goal from Jimmy Smith.

Full Time - Swindon Town 0-3 Crawley Town

At half time, I was lucky enough to meet Matt Taylor, our new central midfielder, who has formerly played for Portsmouth, West Ham and Burnley.

There were some poor refereeing decisions at times on Saturday. This angered the crowd as I do believe some of the decisions were unfair.

My man of the match went to Vigouroux, who thoroughly deserved it.

All in all, a disappointing game as Town crashed to their first defeat of the new League Two season.
