CHAMPIONSHIP club Queens Park Rangers have made an approach for Exeter City’s David Wheeler, according to reports.

The 26-year-old winger has courted interest from a number of clubs this summer, have joined from Staines Town in 2013, scoring 33 goals in 151 league appearances for the Grecians.

Swindon Town’s opponents this weekend, Barnet, have made a late addition to their squad in the form of left-back Andre Blackman.

The 26-year-old was released by Crawley Town on Friday before their trip to Wiltshire and signed a deal with the Bees over the weekend.

The length of Blackman’s contract at The Hive has not been disclosed.

Wycombe Wanderers have secured the services of Charlton Athletic striker Josh Umerah.

The 19-year-old joins from the League One club on a deal until January 15.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has said that he has space to add one more player to his squad before Thursday’s 11pm deadline.

The Shrimps, who were beaten by Town at home earlier this month, have picked up just one win from their opening four league fixtures.

Crewe Alexander manager David Artell was forced to apologise for comments made at Vale Park, claiming they were taken out of context.

The comments came in response to Michael Tonge’s first-half sending off during their 1-0 win when he said: “We all know it is a red – the crowd don’t think so but that’s because they’re not that well-educated.”

Following backlash from Vale supporters, Artell has made a statement where he has apologised for any offence caused but said he was referring solely to the tackle in question.

“I meant specifically about that challenge. If anyone thinks that’s not a red card they need educating. That’s what I meant and I stick by that.

“But I didn’t mean people need educating in the grand scheme of things, and if they’ve taken offence I apologise, I do.”

The row between Grimsby Town fans and Stevenage rumbles on, with the club’s supporters trust accusing the League Two club of treating the supporters ‘with contempt’.

Mariners Trust sent letters of complaint to Stevenage following accusations of women entering the away end being made to reveal their bras and children as young as five undergoing full body searches.

Stevenage, who continue to investigate the incident, along with the police and the English Football League, stood by their security policy, denying anything ‘inappropriate’ but the Mariners Trust have been left annoyed, receiving no correspondence in regard to their complaints.
