HIGHWORTH Town made it a magnificent seven successive wins at the start of the Hellenic League Premier Division season last night with a comfortable 3-0 success at home to Tuffley Rovers.

Ross Adams broke the deadlock after half-an-hour at The Elms and that is how it remained until the interval.

The Worthians then pulled further clear in the second half as strikes from Callum Parsons and Ryan O’Hara added to their tally.

The result moves Jeff Roberts’ side within a point of Flackwell Heath at the top of the early table, although the leaders have played two games more than the Worthians.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town continued their recent resurgence with a third victory in the space of little more than a week as they saw off Lydney Town at home.

Gio Wrona’s second-half strike was enough to hand Rich Hunter’s side the spoils at the Gerrard Buxton Sports Ground.

Fairford Town are still awaiting their first victory as a Premier Division side, although they did at least have the consolation of a third point of the campaign in a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road at Longlevens.

Lee Smith gave Fairford a dream start to the contest when he broke the deadlock after only four minutes, however, Myron Turner restored parity for the home side early in the second half.
