MANAGER David Flitcroft hopes the ability to watch Coventry City at close quarters this weekend will pay dividends as he looks to extend Swindon Town’s winning run in League Two to a third straight game this evening.

Town made it back-to-back victories for the first time this season with a 2-0 success at Forest Green Rovers on Friday night, with the scheduling of that game giving Flitcroft an extra day to prepare for his team’s next assignment against the Sky Blues tonight.

The Town boss and assistant Ben Futcher therefore took the opportunity to travel to the Ricoh Arena to view Coventry first hand and witnessed them down then table toppers Exeter City 2-0.

With scrutiny of opposition usually done through scouting and video analysis, Flitcroft hopes getting such a detailed review of Mark Robins’ men will help him come up with the perfect plan to ensure Swindon claim three more points at the County Ground.

“Live eyes are always key,” said Flitcroft.

“You scout and have certain other outlets to watch the games and get some trends but this gave us an opportunity to cast a 360 degree view over what Coventry have got to offer against the leading candidates to do well this season in Exeter.

“The result was quite resounding, really. Exeter didn’t have many opportunities, structurally Coventry were very good, they keep quite a lot of clean sheets and they were very brave in their attacking intent.

“It was a very professional performance against the top team in the league at the minute.

“It was brilliant to understand where Coventry are at and why they are on a good run at the minute.

“We have relayed that back to the players on what we are going to expect and we have got to go into the game concentrating on us and concentrating on what we are good at.”
