STRIKER Scott Twine’s hat-trick fired Swindon Town Development to a 6-3 win as they went head-to-head with Forest Green Rovers at Stanley Park in the Central League Development League.

David Flitcroft’s men, which saw on-loan midfielder Timi Elsnik feature for the first time since his groin injury he suffered nearly a month ago, raced into an early 2-0 lead as Kaiyne Woolery notched in the opening minute of the game before Paul Mullin’s strike hit both posts on its way to crossing the line.

Forest Green were able to half Swindon’s advantage in the fifth minute through Shamir Mullings, who got a telling deflection from a Toni Gomes shot.

Town then saw their lead quashed when Jordan Simpson, who reunited with former Swindon manager Mark Cooper at the New Lawn this summer when he signed for an undisclosed fee, rifled home from inside the box just before the break.

Forest Green got their noses in front for the first time in the 55th minute when central defender Emmanuel Monthe found the net following a corner.

Youngster Jordan Edwards restored parity for the second time when he scored with with just over 25 minutes of the game remaining, to make it 3-3.

Shortly after, Town were awarded a penalty as Woolery was bundled over by Omar Bugiel with 69 minutes on the clock.

Teenager Twine, who is currently on-loan at National League South side Chippenham Town, put Town back in the driving seat when he converted from the spot for his first of the afternoon.

The 18-year-old then added his second with 15 minutes to go, before latching onto a lofted ball to complete his hat-trick in the 83rd minute to seal a 6-3 win in frenetic clash. Swindon are back in action next Tuesday when the visit Southend United.
