LIKELY LINEUP

Swindon Advertiser:

ONE TO WATCH: Scott Laird

AFTER a period out of the New Lawn squad, the experienced defender has come back into the fold and been a breath of fresh air to Mark Cooper’s line-up in recent weeks.

The 29 year old is a renowned hard worker for his team and even when finding himself out of position in Saturday’s FA Cup second round tie against Exeter City, he stepped up to the plate.

Laird dragged Rovers back level at 2-2 in the 88th minute against the Grecians but although top scorer Christian Doidge struck in the 92nd minute, Jayden Stockley restored parity for Exeter to earn a replay.

Former Scotland youth player Laird started his career at Plymouth Argyle but also has spells at Preston North End and Scunthorpe under his belt.

KEY BATTLE: James Dunne v Will Randall

Randall began his career as a scholar at Town in the summer of 2013. and made his pro debut on the final day of the 2013–14 season as a second-half substitute against Rotherham United.

Snapped up on an 18-month deal by current Championship leaders Wolves January 2016, he spent the end of last season on loan at Walsall, making two substitute appearances for the Saddlers.

Joining Rovers in August until the end of the season, he has so far been restricted to one substitute appearance but could find himself up against Dunne in Town’s midfield tonight, the Swindon man hoping to improve on a poor team performance in Saturday’s FA Cup loss at Stevenage.
