SWINDON Barbell bagged more success over the weekend at the South West Powerlifting Championships as they came away with a handful of medals.

The Wiltshire club registered two wins, as well as a bronze medal to add to numerous South West records over the two days in front of a hoard of supporters which allowed the competition to go ahead.

Saturday morning saw a trio of contestants from Swindon in action, as Emily-Jane Sheppard, Kasia Huchrak-Reed and Dawn Morrell all participated in the -63k equipped, -72k classic and -84 equipped categories respectively.

A day later, the male contingent of the club competed, as Joe Humphrey, Farris Collins, Daniel Coles, Chris Guttridge, Tom Sharp and Mark Townend all took part.

Humphrey, Collins, Coles and Guttridge all featured in the -93k equipped section, while Sharp and Townend were in the -105k and 120k+ categories respectively.

After the competition concluded, Barbell showed their gratitude to team manager and photographer Kat Armstrong, head coach Charlie Shotton-Gale, coaches Karl Miller, Matt Watson, Christie Civetta and Cali Fidget, referee and table organisers Helen Toms, Vicky Pollard and Sarah Robinson, stating it would be impossible for the athletes to compete without their generous support.

Lastly, the club would like to thank MC Matt Tate and Platform crew, spotters and loading volunteers from Swindon Barbell Karl Marillier, Jon Coe, Alex Knox and Steve Howsen.
