TEAM manager Alun Rossiter declared it mission complete as Swindon Robins dispatch Somerset Rebels at the Abbey Stadium last night.

The hosts were authoritative from the outset as they completed a comprehensive 58-32 win.

Highlights from the evening came from teenage reserve Zach Wajtknecht, who collected a total of 10+3, while skipper Nick Morris led by example with a tally of 11+1.

Rossiter said it would be wrong to read too much into the margin of victory, but believes his team are all performing well at the moment.

“The margin of victory means confidence is growing. We just have to keep it going. Belle Vue are in town on Thursday and we need to be winning that, it’s not going to be easy,” said Rossiter.

“For Zach to get a 10 paid 13 is amazing and he was amazing all night. He is getting stuck in and he’s really riding well.

“There are six really strong riders and poor Jack (Smith) is struggling, but we always knew that he was going to struggle.

“Nick has done well too. He’s not happy with the way things have gone, he thinks he should be doing better, but I am sure he will get there.

“I think to get two wins over Jason (Doyle) was pretty special. It’s good to see he has that grit. He’s young and he wants to be better.

“I know he is riding with Greg Hancock in Poland and he’s learning a lot from him as well.”

Muggy conditions and overnight thunder storms had some impact on the track, but Rossiter praised his side for being able to adapt to their conditions.

“It might seem like light work. I think the thunder storms made it a little bit tricky in the beginning,” added Rossiter.

“It was a little bit choppy but the riders pulled it back alright in the end and it didn’t seem to deter us. It effected the away team more than it effected us.

“The dirt seemed to have gone very sandy and that means that sometimes you aren’t quite in control, but the track has been mint all year.

“It’s one of those things. We got it right in the end, and we were able to get a fantastic win.”
