SWINDON Robins took the early decision to postpone tonight’s meeting against Belle Vue Aces following heavy rain over the weekend and a poor weather forecast.

The Abbey Stadium track was left in an unfit state to compete on following steady rainfall in the past few days, and members of the club’s management opted to minimise the inconvenience by calling the meeting off early.

It’s Robins’ sixth postponement of the season after meetings earlier in the year against Leicester, Wolverhampton and the club’s Knockout Cup double header against Rye House also fell victim to the weather.

Had the meeting gone ahead, Swindon could’ve gone top of the league with a win against the Aces.

But Rossiter’s troops now face a two-week wait for their next piece of action when travelling to Beaumont Park to face Leicester Lions on Wednesday, June 13.

Despite the postponement, skipper Nick Morris spoke positively about the team’s spirit and said utilising the club’s home track is key in their success.

He added: “There are no easy meetings, but when the team clicks we are pretty powerful.

“All the boys did a really good job (on Monday against Somerset) and we kept winning races, so we did make it pretty easy in the end.

“At home we’ve been doing well, and we’ve been winning comfortably. Away, I haven’t been doing as well as I’d like, but we’ve been getting the job done and we’re in a good position. We’ll look to keep improving and we’ll be alright.”
