SWINDON skipper Alex Kill says it is important his side build on their opening victory of the summer after conceding his men have endured a ‘rough’ start to the 2018 campaign

Kill led Swindon to a first win of the new WEPL Wiltshire season against Marlborough at the County Ground last weekend, that success coming at the fourth attempt.

Now that his side are finally up and running, Kill thinks it is important they aim to maintain the momentum as they travel to Devizes on Saturday.

“It’s massively important to build on the win, we’ve had a rough start so if we want to achieve big things this year we really need to get on a roll which we are confident we can do,” said Kill, who claims a repeat performance could be enough to secure a second victory.

“We didn’t do too much wrong so we will be looking to do much of the same.

“There are guys who are still looking to get their first big score of the year so I wouldn’t be surprised if someone put in a big performance this weekend.

“The win has certainly helped to get that winning feeling back and has definitely boosted the guys confidence going into this weekend.”

With this week’s opponents being Devizes, Kill recalls previous encounters with the club and believes they are in for a competitive game.

The Swindon skipper also suggested the game could be won and lost with the ball, due to the wicket at Devizes Sports Club.

“We have had some very strange matches against Devizes over the last couple of years but they have mostly been competitive which we expect this weekend to be once again,” added the Swindon chief.

“Whenever I’ve played there, there has been something in it for the bowlers so the guys will have to be patient and take the runs when they come.”

Kill also revealed that Dean Williamson will be unavailable for selection.

Meanwhile, Royal Wootton Bassett couldn’t be further from their Swindon counterparts, they seek their fifth win of the season at home to Corsham.

Purton are hoping to get back to winning ways, Aaron Lee’s troops travel to Chippenham.

Elsewhere, in Prem Two Glos/Wilts, Lechlade’s hunt for a maiden win takes them to bottom-the-league Rockhampton, who are the only other winless outfit.
