BROOME Manor's Katie Walls lifted the Wiltshire Ladies County Championship - aged just 14.

The Swindon teenager was crowned after defeating Ali Grandison (Chippenham) in the final at the North Wilts club.

Walls started the day with a semi-final win over Seona Mauchline (High Post), while Grandison defeated Anne Ferguson (Ogbourne Downs) to set up the final.

There's Wall's exceptional short play came to the fore again, a chip and five-foot putt for a half on the first followed by similar on the ninth to halve the hole in birdies always keeping her level or ahead through the match.

Two down after nine, Grandison then three-putted the 10th to lose another hole and she was three up playing the 14th.

Despite missing the green, Walls chipped in to all but close out the match, which ended on the next hole.

Walls has also been selected for the ladies squad to play in the South West Inter County Match Week at St Enodoc in Cornwall from July 2-6.

In the second flight event Olivia Bannon (Broome Manor) defeated Ashleigh Thorne (Wrag Barn) for the Gillian Wood Trophy.

Wiltshire Junior girls filled six of the eight semi-final positions across both events, Cumberwell Park's Laura Curtis winning the 36-hole qualifying event with a total of 158 while Mauchline , who won the county junior title, posted the best morning round.
