CONFIDENCE is a big thing in speedway, and at the moment, I think this is the most confident I have been in my career.

In the last two or three weeks, I have had some of my best scores, so I can’t wait to get back on the track with Swindon at Leicester this evening, especially after 10 days off.

Things are going well and now I need to make sure I keep it up.

Obviously the team is confident, the results we have had recently have made us confident, but being confident has allowed us to do well.

It would be a bit different if we were losing every match. Everyone needs to keep doing what we are doing and we should be alright.

When you’re riding well and scoring points, people think that being busy is the best thing for it because you get momentum.

But a break in fixtures can be just as helpful as it means you can regroup and look after the bikes for a bit.

Over the last two weeks or so, I’ve just been working on a couple of bits to do with the bikes to make sure I am all ready to get going again and helping out with my dad.

If you’re quite busy, it’s not just a demand on you, it is a demand on your bikes as well, so you want to maintain the bikes as well as you can.

At the same time, you want to be racing too. It’s about finding the right balance between both.

Normally riders wash the bikes after a meeting, put them back together and amend some stuff if that is what it needs.

So for example tonight, I’ll get back from Leicester, go to bed, get up the in the morning to wash the bike and then get ready to race again at the Abbey Stadium tomorrow.

Everyone is different, if you don’t need anything to be changed then obviously there is no point in changing anything, especially if things are going well for you.

This week, we have both Leicester and Rye House. Leicester is a bit of a strange track, if I remember.

I’m looking forward to getting back out on the track. Leicester is a little bit tight at the gate.

I have been there a few times, so that should help me out.

Then we’re back at the Abbey, which I’m looking forward to because we’ve been really good at home.
