SWINDON Town could be in line to receive a near £1 million windfall with former defender Aden Flint on the brink of moving from Bristol City to Middlesbrough.

The two Championship clubs are understood to have agreed a fee for Flint, 28, to move north from Ashton Gate, just three months after the player signed a long-term deal to keep him at City until 2021.

Flint, who was understood to be having a medical with the north east club, moved from Town in June 2013, signing a four-year deal with City for a fee believed to be around £350,000, plus a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

The player's future has been the subject of speculation for some time, with Premier League Bournemouth and promoted Fulham believes to be past suitors.

A guaranteed figure of £5 million, potentially rising to £7 million, has been mooted for the current move to Boro, potentially sending a sum close to £1 million Town's way, courtesy of the sell-on value clause.

Flint helped City reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals last season and also scored nine goals.

Town signed Flint on a two-and-a-half year contract in 2011 from non-league Alfreton Town and he went on to make 64 appearances, scoring four times.
