SWINDON Town look set to be without forward Kaiyne Woolery for the start of the League Two season on August 4.

Woolery, signed by former County Ground boss David Flitcroft for a reputed £350,000 fee last August, is understood to be suffering from a knee injury which will see him miss the opening stages of the campaign.

The former Bolton and Wigan attacker, 23, played 37 times for Town last season, scoring four goals but is believed to be wearing a knee brace as he continues his recovery.

It’s another dent in Town’s attacking presence following the departures of Paul Mullin and last season’s top goalscorer Luke Norris, who have opted to join Tranmere Rovers and Colchester United respectively.

Boss Phil Brown told BBC Wiltshire: “Unfortunately Kaiyne’s leg is in a brace and he’s going to be out for a few weeks.

“It’s a miserable time for him, but none more so than me when I can’t pick him.

“I don’t think he will be available for the start of the season.

“We’ll have to see how quickly we can progress that.”

In more positive news, both Olly Lancashire and Dion Conroy joined in light training this week having struggled with injury issues throughout last season.

Lancashire acted as goalkeeper in a quick-touch passing game while also completing the routine warm-up exercises and a half-hour run.

Conroy also ran without any major issues and played outfield for 30 minutes during Neil McDonald’s first drill as Town assistant boss.
