SWINDON trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick says his fighters have plenty to gain from tomorrow’s outing in Bristol.

A trio of Bec Connolly, Ryan Martin and Harry Webb will all climb into the ring at UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre on Friday night.

All three are yet to learn the identity of their opponents, but Fitzpatrick is unfazed as he looks to further improve their respective records.

Connolly is looking to bounce back from her first defeat as a professional, Martin is out for his 10th win in the paid ranks, while Webb is on the hunt for his fourth success.

Bradley Townsend was also due to feature, but was forced to pull out after undergoing a minor operation.

Fitzpatrick said: “It’s the same as always. We want them to keep busy because if they are busy, then then they are learning and we are trying to get them experience in the pro ranks.

“For Ryan, this will be two wins since he lost the fight for the IBO Continental welterweight title and then I’ll be looking to get him out in September for another title opportunity.

“Harry is 3-0, so if he can get to 4-0 in his first year that will be nice. We will be looking to do that.

“Physically, he has matured an awful lot. A lot of people gradually fill out over time, but since his debut back in September, he is a different person physically.

“It’ll be interesting to see if he will now be able to let that extra physical strength show.

“He has always been very talented, so now we want to see if that strength can help him get to these guys before the last bell.”

Fitzpatrick also says while women’s boxing continues to grow at a rapid rate, he admits the sport is ‘wide open’ and claims a win for Connolly could catapult her to the forefront of people’s minds.

“The women’s divisions aren’t very deep. Even though it is growing and everyone is excited about that, which is fantastic, the girls get their opportunities sooner," said Fitzpatrick.

“It’s wide open. Becky’s last opponent is now fighting for a world title, and if that fight is close, it could change a lot of things.

“If Becky wins on Friday too then that can change a lot of things too, but she just needs to enjoy herself.

“She’s been doing that and it has been showing in the gym recently. She’s improved a lot during this camp, so I expect we will see a more in control performance.

“It’s exciting for the three of them to be out, especially on the same show. We are all looking forward to it.”
