SEEKING their fifth consecutive win, Swindon have been handed their toughest test yet as they host league leaders Warminster on Saturday.

Warminster have a faultless record of nine wins from nine and lead the way in the WEPL Wiltshire standings.

Swindon themselves are also going well, their win over Purton last week made it four on the spin after skipper Alex Kill watched his side lose their opening five contests.

Despite the formidable form of their opponents, Kill says it is still important for his side to try and impose their game on Warminster when possible.

“We need to keep doing what we’ve been doing the past few weeks and putting pressure on the opposition with our own performance,” said the Swindon skipper, who also reminded his troops of the threat posed by Pete Hickerton’s side.

“It looks like they have managed to put together some good batting performances over the past few weeks and have had opportunities to declare.

“We need to try and keep the pressure on and look to take wickets where we can.”

Kill revealed the club will not be opting to take an extended break at tea to watch England in their World Cup quarter-final with Sweden, but did say the Pavillion will be showing the game at 3pm, with the bar opening at 1pm.

Given their form, the Swindon captain says there is a case for confidence going into the game, despite having a few changes in personnel for the WEPL clash.

“I think we are looking at it as just another weekend and another game,” added Kill.

“We’ve been having a good run of form so we are looking forward to trying to do more of the same and enjoying what we are doing.

“We know we are more than capable of walking away with the win, we could have given a better account of ourselves when we played them earlier in the year so we will be wanting to put that right.

“We have a couple of people (Chris Aubrey & Dan Harris) who are away for the weekend but we’ve got a few lads back (Dean Williamson & Udit Talati) as well so we’ve got a relatively strong team.”

Elsewhere, Royal Wootton Bassett will hope they’re capable of returning to winning ways when they host Marshfield at the weekend.

Marshfield suffered their first defeat in five games last week, while Bassett’s loss to league leaders Warminster made it back-to-back wins for Darren Beasant’s side.

Purton travel to Calne and both teams share their intermittent form as they have two wins from their last five ahead of the weekend.
