FORWARD Keshi Anderson is already discovering pockets of information about his new team-mates and the style of football Swindon Town are likely to play this season.

Anderson, 23, signed for Town on loan from Crystal Palace at the start of last season – a deal which later became permanent during the January transfer window.

While the Luton-born striker is still expected to have new names to learn prior to Town’s first League Two fixture against Macclesfield Town on August 4, Anderson admits he’s quickly picking up on the positive traits of his team-mates.

He said: “I know Jermaine (McGlashan) as a player and I know he’s going to be a pacey winger that likes the ball at his feet.

“I’m thinking in my head if Jermaine wants the ball, he’s going to want it at his feet if he hasn’t got a man near him.

“Or if he has a man near him, he will want it behind. That’s my understanding of Jermaine as a player.

“In training you swap teams, so every day you’re finding new pieces of information out about your team-mates.

“Even with James (Dunne) in recent sessions we’ve noticed how good he is at powering forward and getting higher up the pitch rather than sitting deeper.

“Little things like that help, and you realise you can work with it.”

The former Palace man could benefit from Phil Brown’s proposed 4-3-3 formation, which he has deployed during pre-season.

And learning from the experience of Brown and his backroom staff is something Anderson wants to make the most of during his time at the Energy Check County Ground under the current management.

He said: “Every bit of experience helps, whether that’s being focussed on a younger player or a professional.

“Everyone can learn from everyone in this environment, and football is always adapting with regards to the style of play and how certain players play.

“As a whole, the players we have individually and bringing that into a team allows us something to build on.”

Following a six-week break, Anderson was pleased to dust off the cobwebs during Town’s early pre-season contests against non-league sides Cirencester Town and Melksham Town.

The squad have since been on training camp to Spain but return for another friendly at home to West Bromwich Albion today.

“Training is completely different to a match tempo, it’s like dusting off the cobwebs,” said Anderson.

“Pre-season has been good. It’s been tough, but psychologically it has helped.

“We’ve been doing some timed games, and the times we’ve been playing has amounted to 45 minutes.

“Because of that, everyone is up to speed with where they need to be. In the coming weeks, everyone will want to push on and get that extra bit of fitness in.”
