SWINDON Robins are planning a number of events to celebrate the 69th anniversary of their first-ever meeting at next Monday's televised SGB Premiership home clash with Leicester.
Alun Rossiter's side, who also host Somerset Rebels at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday, issue a souvenir commemorative programme for the Leicester fixture - which coincides with the exact date of their first meeting.
Gates will open at 6pm on Monday and there will be extra attractions from 7pm with a combination of riders from the past, present and future.
Racing starts at 7.30pm, also live on BT Sport and club chairman Terry Russell said: “No doubt a lot of our fans will be heading to Cardiff (for the British Grand Prix) at the weekend but we have two very important home meetings around that, so it’s a busy time for us all.
“I’m excited about the days ahead and I’m sure our fans will appreciate the fact that we want to make something big out of our anniversary meeting on the exact date of the first meeting – and it’s special for us to be live on BT Sport to celebrate.
“But naturally we also hope we are celebrating six league points from the two meetings and we need our fans to get right behind us.”
