A FINAL heat race advantage for King's Lynn Stars denied Swindon Robins a consolation bonus point at the Adrian Flux Arena tonight.

A five-ride maximum for British Champion Robert Lambert went a long way in Stars' deserved victory, while Swindon's grip on the top spot weakened once more.

Heat one wasn’t without its drama as the Robins recovered from being on the wrong end of a 5-1 to earn a shared race.

Michael Palm Toft took advantage of David Bellego’s error on bend four to move through into second before Bellego returned the favour a lap later while Nick Morris waited until the final bend to move through into third.

Alun Rossiter’s men were dealt a blow in heat two when Jack Smith spectacularly crashed into the air fence when racing in total isolation in fourth.

Smith’s bike was thrown into the safety fence before the teenager followed, prompting him to withdraw from the meeting with an arm injury.

The re-run saw home pairing Simon Lambert and Jason Garrity pick up Stars’ first 5-1 of the night.

Two shared races followed as Adam Ellis won heat three before British Champion and home hero Robert Lambert clocked the fastest time of the night in heat four when beating Troy Batchelor in a time of 58.12.

The second batch of heats saw three further races shared as Stars’ 5-1 in the second race proved the only point of separation between the two sides.

Nick Morris bravely kept the power on when rounding Ty Proctor to win heat five before Troy Batchelor won heat six ahead of Niels-Kristian Iversen.

Heat seven produced one of the heats of the season though as British Champion Robert Lambert defied odds to move from last to first in two laps.

Robins’ Adam Ellis appeared to get away with a rolling start before teammate Musielak joined him on the backstraight.

Lambert then cut underneath Ellis on the third lap before rounding Musielak on the final turn to clinch a breath-taking win and restrict Alun Rossiter’s troops to another 3-3.

The hosts ended the five-race run of 3-3s immediately after the second track break when Simon Lambert and Michael Palm Toft forced David Bellego out of the equation in a tight first turn to stretch Stars’ lead to eight points.

That result prompted Swindon boss Alun Rossiter to deploy his tactical substitute as Nick Morris replaced reserve Zach Wajtknecht.

The switch worked as Robins secured their first race advantage with Morris taking the chequered flag over Ty Proctor and Troy Batchelor.

Six points remained the gap Swindon had to close down after Adam Ellis and Tobiasz Musielak surrendered another 5-1 situation when Niels-Kristian Iversen dived under the pair when exiting turn two in heat 10.

More points were thrown away in heat 11 when Nick Morris’ error on bend four granted Robert Lambert the opportunity to earn his third win of the night, and consequently stretch Stars’ lead to eight points.

Robins pegged Stars’ lead back to six points and had reserve Zach Wajtknecht to thank as he blocked off Simon Lambert’s run while Adam Ellis comfortably won the race ahead.

Mechanical gremlins for Niels-Kristian Iversen rescued a 3-3 for Robins in heat 13 as Robert Lambert maintained his unbeaten run when taking the flag ahead of Batchelor and Morris.

A last bend move from Zach Wajtknecht on Simon Lambert meant the Robins required only a shared race in heat 15 to earn a deserved consolation bonus point.

But Lambert and Iversen rode to a 4-2, securing the home side a 4-2.
