SWINDON Town were forced to come from behind as they picked up a 4-1 over Swindon Supermarine at the Webbswood Stadium tonight.

Manager Phil Brown made wholesale changes to the team that had been unsuccessful against Portsmouth at the Energy Check County Ground last Saturday.

The changes were experimental too, James Dunne and Joe Romanksi were both tried in full-back positions as Toumani Diagouraga and Michael Doughty were handed midfield berths alongside fellow new signing Jak McCourt.

Trialist Marc Antoine Fortune led the line offensively, as youngsters Scott Twine and Jordan Young offered support.

Former West Brom and Celtic man Fortune put in a good showing, winning a penalty in the opening 30 minutes after being hacked down by Zak Westlake.

The resulting spot-kick fell to Twine, but the youngster was unable to convert as he blasted his shot over the bar.

Minutes later Town fell behind as Joe Selman lashed home after some tricky work from Connor McDorough on the left.

Deep into the first half Twine was able to get an improvised shot away at the Marine goal which drew a decent save, but wasn’t too troubling.

Yet in truth, Brown’s men didn’t really get a sniff at goal since going behind as the first half finished 0-0 at the Webbswood.

Swindon were unchanged going into the second half as they searched for an equaliser against the newly-promoted Southern League Premier side.

Town soon got what they were looking for, although they were handed a huge slice of luck as defender Matt Coupe headed into his own net to level proceedings.

Fortune, who was superb throughout, turned in from the right to shoot and saw Town level from the resulting corner, courtesy of Coupe’s head.

On the hour-mark, Town turned it around. Doughty was the scorer after he slotted past Josh Hill when he latched onto McCourt’s through-ball.

After taking the lead, Swindon looked more comfortable. Brown took off skipper Lancashire, who was making his first outing of the pre-season schedule, for youngster Anthony Cheshire.

Twine was able to atone for his penalty miss with 15 minutes to play as he planted a diving header into the bottom right corner, after Dunne’s cross from the right.

The teenager then doubled his personal tally for the evening with a blistering long-range effort.

The youngster cut inside on his right-foot before launching the ball into the top-right corner with 10 minutes to play.
