SKIPPER Alex Kill says Swindon will take nothing for granted when they host Devizes this weekend.

Swindon recorded a second consecutive win in WEPL Wiltshire over Marlborough last weekend and are now hunting a third on the bounce.

They welcome Devizes to the County Ground on Saturday and captain Kill, who has a full side to choose from apart from Dan Harris, says his troops must not get carried away by their recent resurgence.

“It has been good to get back to winning ways again after a couple of defeats. We are in a mid-table battle with a few other teams, Devizes being one of them, so it will be good to try and distance ourselves from them if we can,” said Kill.

“I think we perhaps gave away a few too many extras and that could be the difference in a competitive game, so we will be looking to put that right. If we can get early wickets, it should put us in a good position.

“It would have been much tougher going into this match if we had lost three in a row, so it will hopefully act as a good boost of form for everyone to use this week.

“We had a very competitive match against Devizes earlier in the year, so we will be expecting a lot of the same. They are a more than capable side so we won’t be taking anything for granted.”

The club are also hosting an evening with former Australian international Merv Hughes on Sunday, August 12 as they look to bring in some fresh faces to the club.

Tickets cost £20, which includes food, and for more information, call 07769296599 or email tomas_foreman@hotmail.com.

Chairman Tomas Foreman thinks it will be a great occasion for the club and that it will help them raise their profile in the area.

He said: “We are excited to welcome Merv Hughes to our club for what hopes to be a great night of entertaining stories from Merv’s time in international cricket.

“There is a game in the afternoon first, so hopefully the hot weather continues. The event is open to all and we look forward to a great day.”

Elsewhere, Royal Wootton Bassett travel to Corsham, while Purton face Chippenham at home.

In Prem Two Glos/ Wilts, Lechlade host Rockhampton.
