ADAM Harding thinks his versatility will be invaluable this season after sealing his Swindon Wildcats return earlier this week.

Harding rejoined the Link Centre outfit on Tuesday morning, completing their roster after spending last season at Milton Keynes Lightning.

Player-coach Aaron Nell had no hesitation in recruiting the 25-year-old once he discovered he was available.

Harding has now relocated to Cardiff and says that during his time away from the Cats, his game has improved in several aspects.

“In the Elite League I played a different role, I was more of a defence-minded player and I played to shut down the top line of the other team,” he said.

“I feel like I can play on either line. I can play in the top two or in the third and shut down the other team. My main role last year was being on the penalty kill.

“I feel like my game has improved a lot. Just playing all the time means you’re stronger and they are quicker so there is always that pace too.

“I’m more experienced and I have had some great coaches over the years.

“When I called Aaron about joining he only had one spot left, so he is still trying to figure out where he wants to put me.

“I’m versatile. I can play in the middle or the right, it doesn’t really bother me as long as I am playing.”

Despite spending three years away from the club, Harding is more than familiar with the roster for this season.

Players such as Sam Bullas, Neil Liddiard, Floyd Taylor and Stevie Whitfield are just a few of those who were at the club while Harding was in his last stint.

The Welshman says it is nice to have familiar faces around him, but insisted it had no bearing on his decision to sign on at the Link Centre.

“There are only a couple of players I haven’t played with,” he added.

“I played against Tyler Plews in Scotland so you get to know them even when you are playing against them as well.

“It makes it easier, but you don’t really think about things like that. It’ll be an easy adjustment for me and I have got to just step into it and see how things go.”
