KESHI Anderson insists no one in the Swindon Town squad is glossing over the shortcomings they have shown early in the new season.

Town travel to Crawley Town hunting a third win from four League Two games, although the two victories they have collected came in dramatic circumstances as Phil Brown’s side were forced to come from behind.

Between Saturday’s success over Tranmere Rovers and the opening-day win over Macclesfield Town, Swindon lost three times in a row.

They went down to Lincoln City in the league and suffered defeats to Forest Green Rovers and Chelsea U21s in the Carabao Cup and Checkatrade Trophy respectively.

Although Town are currently just one point off top spot in the league at present, forward Anderson says the Swindon players know where they need to improve.

“It has been a bit hit and miss so far this season,” admitted the 23-year-old.

“We had those three games where we lost on the bounce and it was bit frustrating for the boys. We want to eradicate the mistakes we have been making as a team and focus on not conceding as many goals.

“The positives we can take is that we are showing that fight together, and so far in the league, we have pulled through with two wins out of three which has got us in a good a position to start.

“Now it is about not going behind and pushing on when it’s 0-0, getting an early go and going on from there and keep getting stronger.

“No one has had three wins on the trot. We have got two games left in August, so if we can get two more wins in those, we will be a good position that we can kick on from.”

As well as mishaps at the back, Town have also not been as clinical as they would like in attack, and Anderson says the team must make the most of their chances to take the pressure off the whole side.

“We are creating a lot of chances, but at the end of the day, we need to put the ball in the net more often when it is 0-0 because that eases the game for everyone,” said Anderson.

“On Saturday, we went out looking to start sharp but got knocked by two early goals.

“The boys never looked down and thought we were out of the game. We were always going to fight on, just like we did in the first game against Macclesfield.

“In the two league games we have won, we had to fight and it has helped the team to know we can do it, but we do need to eradicate the mistakes we are making.”

Anderson says it is not just down to Town’s defenders to keep opposition quiet and boss Brown has worked with the squad extensively on defending from the front first and foremost.

“Everyone has got a job to do,” said Anderson, who joined Town from Premier League side Crystal Palace on a permanent deal in January after a previous loan spell.

“We start off with a point in a game and if we can’t come out with all three, we want to come out with at least one.

“When we are out on the training pitch, we are focussed on not conceding and that comes from the shape from the front.

“The forwards are the first line of defence in certain circumstances, so when we do press high, we win the ball back.

“It is important as strikers that we help out the midfield with our shape and also the defence by trying not to put them in situations where they don’t feel most comfortable.”
