SWINDON Robins will conclude their 2018 SGB Premiership campaign at the Abbey Stadium tonight when welcoming Mark Lemon’s Belle Vue Aces to Wiltshire (7.30pm).

The Aces secured the fourth and final play-off spot last night when beating Somerset Rebels on home shale at the National Speedway Stadium in a thrilling encounter that was only decided in the final race of the night.

It means tonight’s meeting at the Abbey has nothing but pride riding on it, though Robins boss Alun Rossiter will be keen to pick up some home form ahead of the club’s Knockout Cup semi-final home leg against King’s Lynn Stars on Monday, September 10.

Swindon are at full strength for tonight’s meeting as reserve Jack Smith returns to the Robins camp after missing last week’s home clash against Poole Pirates following a crash while racing for National League club Belle Vue Colts in the days building up to the meeting.

Australian international Troy Batchelor remains at number one with his compatriot Nick Morris filling in at five.

World Team Long Track champion David Bellego will make his first appearance at the Abbey since winning the World Championship when featuring at two with heat leaders Adam Ellis and Tobiasz Musielak completing the top five.

Bristol-based Zach Wajtknecht – a rider many fans will regard as Robins’ rider of the season – completes the squad.

The Aces meanwhile – who picked up a 49-41 win at Swindon three weeks ago - have Todd Kurtz guesting at reserve for Mark Riss with the German on duty for his Championship team Ipswich.

The visitors will also miss British youngster Dan Bewley, who is on the long-term injury list after breaking his leg in five places during a crash while racing for Workington. Rider replacement will be operated in his absence.

However the remainder of their top five are all available, including former British Champion Craig Cook who missed their August visit.

The meeting is Robins’ last of their Premiership fixtures with only one more home meeting scheduled after tonight - when King’s Lynn race in the Knockout Cup.
