Rosco confident ahead of Hammers clash

ALUN Rossiter hopes rivals Lakeside Hammers suffer a bout of the away-day blues at Blunsdon tonight as his Robins look to keep their 100 per cent home record intact.

The two sides meet in an Elite League fixture for the second time in a week, with Swindon looking to avenge last Friday's disappointing 50-45 reverse in Purfleet.

Lakeside may be one of the favourites to lift the title later this year, but Rossiter insists his riders can deliver a hammer blow at the Abbey.

He said: "In my opinion I don't think they (Lakeside) will travel too well.

"We have to respect them but I'm confident we can turn them over.

"We may have lost last Friday, but I was quite happy with the manner of the defeat.

"We could easily have gone down by 20 points, but we kept our heads up and we came out fighting.

"As I have said before, it's going to be very difficult for anybody to win away from home this season.

"Eastbourne winning at Coventry won't happen again. Once the guys are happy with the set ups on their bikes, you will only see the odd away win here and there."

Both Swindon and Lakeside will be without a regular rider tonight, with Robins' reserve Theo Pijper and Hammers' Andreas Jonsson both out injured.

Promising young Aussie Cory Gathercole will slide for Swindon, while compatriot Davey Watt, who guested at Blunsdon last season, will deputise for the visitors.

Said Rosco: "Davey did a good job for us last year when Leigh Adams injured his shoulder.

"I hope the Swindon fans remember that and give him a good reception.

"He's pretty good around this track but Andreas Jonsson will be a big miss for them. I'm confident we can win."
