NATIONWIDE captain Mark Flay is refusing to get carried away after his side opened their Wiltshire Division account with victory over rivals Malmesbury last week, writes GARETH MOORHOUSE.
The Pipers Way club won their opening fixture last summer too, before plummeting to the foot of the table with a succession of heavy defeats, and Flay is determined to keep his feet on the ground.
Tomorrow's home clash with ambitious Lechlade promises to be another stern test, and Flay is looking for back-to-back wins to put his side in the early season comfort zone.
He said: "It was nice to get off to a winning start, but we won our first game last year and really struggled after that.
"Lechlade are strong and I know one or two of their players quite well, so we will need to be on top of our game. Hopefully we can take our confidence from last week's win over Malmesbury and do the business again."
Nationwide will be without Steve Lewis and Roger Thwaites tomorrow, so John Reivers and Chris Trewhella come into the side.
Elsewhere in the Wiltshire Division, Purton will be looking to put last week's 20-run defeat against Lechlade behind them when they host Hinton Charterhouse.
Malmesbury face a tough task tomorrow as captain Richard Gaunt takes his side to newly-promoted Potterne, who beat neighbours Devizes on the opening weekend.
The club currently has first and second teams in the Berkshire Leagues, as well as representation in the Thursday Evening Swindon League, while their ladies' side is taking a year out to restructure.
