THE managerial midas touch passed from father to son on Wednesday as Blair Sturrock led his Mighty Whites to victory over Lee Peacock's Rockin' Reds in Town's annual Play on the Pitch match at the County Ground, writes GARETH MOORHOUSE.
Sturrock, or Sturrinho' as he prefers to be called, celebrated a 3-2 success after strikes from Tom Tanswell, Sean Lovett and a Jason McGinley own goal.
Paul Hayward and Daniel Vowles replied for the Reds, but it wasn't enough to save face for Peacock, who later admitted his ticker' couldn't take much more.
The match was an opportunity for the supporters to grace the hallowed turf where their heroes play on a Saturday afternoon, but for Sturrock, pictured, it was a chance to get one over on his Town teammate.
He said: "The abilities of my squad shone through, and it was an easy win in the end.
"It was all about the shape. We were the away team and we set up accordingly.
"The boys did really well, and they're already talking about coming back next year. It was a great day for them."
Peacock showed his competitive streak stretches from the pitch to the dugout as he reeled off a list of excuses for his beaten troops.
"For me it was all one-way traffic in the second half, I thought we absolutely destroyed them.
"I thought tactically we were better, we had a better manager, but it wasn't to be!
"The lads are gutted in there, but that's how much it means to them to play at their favourite stadium.
"They are moaning about the penalty in there, they say it was a dive!"
There are still three places available for the Play on the Pitch over 30s match this Sunday (kick-off 2pm).
