SUCCESS has become second nature to the women of Abbey Meads Netball Club after they won promotion for the fourth year in a row.
Abbey Meads A team will start the 2008/09 season in Division One of the Swindon and District Netball League, after finishing as runners-up of Division Two.
The promotion means the club's top team has gone up every year since they formed in 2004.
In addition, Abbey Meads Bs have also been promoted, after winning Division 4 by a nine-point margin. The team won all 22 of their matches in the 2007/08 season.
Coach Lorraine Bulpitt formed the club four years ago.
She said: "Some of the women had never played netball before and a lot of them had not played since school.
"We just met up for training at first and then they decided they wanted to enter a team in the league.
"We were amazed when we won promotion in our first season, and we expected to come straight back down again, but we went on to win Division Three.
"Halfway through the last season, we realised we were in the running for promotion again. It made us all really determined and it paid off."
Abbey Meads Netball Club meets on Tuesday nights and Thursday mornings at Isambard Community School in Redhouse Way, Swindon. The club also has a C team in Division Four and an over-35s team.
