Walcot's Arron Henderson was unlucky to drop a close points decision at the Broad Plain ABC event in Bristol, writes DAVE VEYSEY.
The 13-year-old started slowly against Connor O'Connell, from the host club, and was trailing after the opening round.
However the Churchfields pupil increased his workrate during the middle session, landing with crisp left jabs and straight rights to redress the balance.
The final round was another good one for the Walcot boxer, as he continued to score with left jabs, and he appeared to have done enough to secure victory.
But to the dismay of the Walcot camp it was the young Bristolian who had his arm raised by the referee, the ringside judges having awarded O'Connell a majority-points verdict, with the scores being 12-10, 10-7, and 10-12.
Coach Harry Scott was disappointed, saying: "I thought Arron won the bout although it was a close one.
"He scored well in the second and third rounds but that's boxing, sometimes you don't get the decision that you hope for.
"Arron has lost a few close contests this season but he's a stylish boxer and if he keeps at it his time will come."
