MIGUEL Comminges will become an honourary Welshman for the day today as he dreams of completing a meteoric rise in English football with a European adventure.
Town's Guadeloupe international revealed his Cardiff City move was still on the cards and admitted an FA Cup final win for the Bluebirds would make the switch even more attractive.
Comminges, currently in Paris, was quick to deny any rumours Plymouth Arygle were set to hijack his move to Wales with late interest, revealing his agent was currently working on closing the deal at the Ninian Park outfit.
While already looking forward to the challenge of Championship football, Comminges knows a Cardiff victory against Portsmouth in today's Wembley showpiece would give him the bonus of a UEFA Cup campaign.
Having just arrived in English football last summer, the 26-year-old admits his rise has even surprised himself as he contemplates mixing it with some of Europe's finest.
He said: "Of course I will be cheering on Cardiff. It won't be easy because Portsmouth are a good side but I believe they can win.
"Although the move to Cardiff is still not definite, obviously for me it would be good to play in Europe next season. That is where some of the best players in the world play.
"I really enjoyed playing League One with Swindon and it does surprise me I could be playing Championship and European football so quickly.
"I don't think I will be able to watch the final because I will be with a friend in Paris but I will watch out for the result and would be very pleased if Cardiff could surprise people and win the game."
Comminges' future has been shrouded in mystery ever since he turned down a contract extension at the County Ground in favour of a bid for Championship football.
He and Cardiff were quick to deny Town's claims a deal with them was set to be sealed although both admit talks are ongoing.
Comminges told the Advertiser yesterday he was "very hopeful" something would be sorted with the Welshman, revealing he was waiting for news from his agent.
