'Super Troy revs me up': Mads

MADS Korneliussen believes Troy Batchelor's impressive form will have a knock-on effect on his own displays as he vows not to give up his place in the Robins line-up.

Batchelor deservedly took all the plaudits with a 15-point full maximum on Thursday night as table-topping Swindon cruised to another Elite League victory against Lakeside Hammers.

But Korneliussen was the unsung Robins hero as he went close to emulating his teammate with 11 points out of a possible 12 in an impressive performance.

The Dane is currently under pressure from Batchelor for the second heat leader spot, but is refusing to be put down the order and is illustrating his determination with some high-scoring rides.

“Troy is the hero at the moment and deserves it. He’s hunting me down for the second heat leader spot, but he won’t get it – I won’t let him.

"It was very frustrating not to get the maximum against Lakeside," Korneliussen admitted.

"I think it's the second week where I nearly got it but just missed out.

"I'll just keep working hard and hopefully I can get it next time and then it'll be third time lucky.

"Troy is the hero at the moment and deserves it. He rode really well.

"He's hunting me down for the second heat leader spot, but he won't get it - I won't let him.

"It's good to have some competition between us. It keeps you on your toes and you don't want to lose out to your teammate."

With Korneliussen, Batchelor and skipper Leigh Adams on top form, the Robins easily saw off Lakeside's threat to continue to set the pace at the top of the Elite League.

And the 24-year-old believes they had beaten their opponents before they even took to the Abbey Stadium track.

Korneliussen said: "It was a good win because Arena were tipped as the favourties, and it was good to prove a point that we could smash them at home.

"We ran them close up there as well so hopefully we can get a result next time up there as well.

"I was looking at them before the meeting and they didn't look too happy with the track conditions.

"They didn't seem too happy so I think we had the edge before we started.

"But we weren't worried about the track because it looked normal.

"Even if it looks rough it rides pretty nice anyway, so it's always the same but just looks different."

n IN new fixture changes, Robins will now travel to Eastbourne in the Elite League on June 7, replacing the original date at Arlington on June 16.

The outstanding Elite League clash against Coventry will now take place on Friday, September 5 and will be the B fixture, meaning the July 11 meeting is now an A fixture.
