A MENTALLY drained' Leigh Adams criticised the state of the Ullevi Stadium track after being part of a horror show at the Swedish Grand Prix.
The Gothenburg event, which attracted more than 20,000 spectators, was littered with crashes and reruns as the track failed to cope with the demands of speedway.
The Swindon Robins captain picked up nine points to remain fourth overall in the Grand Prix standings, but admitted he found it hard going, both physically and mentally.
"It was a tough, tough night," said Adams. "The track was not good at all and there were guys getting injured left, right and centre.
"It's really hard to stay focussed when you're in the middle of that.
"It was really tough mentally to tell yourself to go and race when the track was so bad - I feel drained now.
"It's a man-made track, and there were a lot of holes and a lot of crashes. It was demanding to say the least."
Adams exited Saturday night's meeting when he was passed by Fredrick Lindgren at the semi-final stage.
But, while frustrated at not making the final, he believes it hasn't affected his push to become world champion.
"I was massively disappointed to go out in the semi-final," he revealed.
"But the way the final went worked in my favour really because Nicki Pedersen (the current leader) didn't gain any more ground on me.
"So if there's any positives to take from the meeting, that is it."
