MADS Korneliussen showed the Grand Prix selectors what they will be missing at the Danish Grand Prix as Robins cruised to a 13-point win over Peterborough last night.
Korneliussen may have been overlooked for a wild card slot at the Parken Stadium, but he provided the perfect riposte with a stunning heat win over Panthers captain and compatriot Hans Andersen.
Andersen may have eclipsed the Swindon star in the two duels that followed, but Korneliussen was more than satisfied with his night's haul of paid 12 from five rides.
"That was nice to get one over Hans because he is one of the best Danish riders at the moment," he said.
"It's always good to beat the top riders because it makes you believe in yourself.
"I couldn't lose to any of the other Danes because they should be below me in the table.
"Hans had a good battle with Leigh in heat 15, it was just a bit sad that Leigh won because I would have had a paid second!"
Peterborough's shock win at Poole on Wednesday gave the Panthers hope of a first ever victory on the Abbey shale, but Korneliussen insists the Robins were always confident of success.
"They won at Poole yesterday and put the pressure on us because everyone thought they could turn us over," he revealed.
"Last night showed that anything can happen, but today is a different thing because everybody scored their points.
"It was a good win and just what we needed because losing to Poole last time was the biggest low of the season."
The opening heat was all action from tapes to flag, with the two captains Adams and Andersen jockeying for position throughout. Andersen forced Adams wide on the opening bend and held sway until lap three, when the Swindon skipper roared up the inside to take the lead and the chequered flag.
James Wright followed his captain's example with a heat win in two, and Korneliussen then made it three heat wins in a row for the Robins to break the early deadlock.
Panthers notched their first heat win in four, before Korneliussen produced a terrific ride to hold off compatriot Andersen for his second heat win, with McGowan bouncing back off the fence for another point.
Robins recorded their first maximum of the night in six, Adams nursing Alden to victory with a typically unselfish ride.
After another 3-3 in seven, Ryan Fisher won a pedestrian-paced heat eight, Alden and Wright sliding home second and third.
McGowan got a morale-boosting chequered flag in nine, Korneliussen crossing the line second for another Robins 5-1.
And Swindon were almost out of sight after heat 10, Adams and Alden sandwiching Fisher on the opening bend before the Robins riders pulled away for a second straight maximum.
Peterborough used the tactical ride in 11, Andersen donning the black and white helmet for a double-points win ahead of teammate Bager.
Andersen bagged another heat win in 12 as a rider replacement, and the Panthers skipper made it a triple in heat 13, beating Adams into second place with Batchelor third.
Robins wrapped up in the win in the penultimate heat, McGowan leading from tapes to flag.
And Adams added the icing on the cake with a dramatic win in heat 15, pipping Andersen on the line to take the chequered flag and the plaudits.
